Frequently asked questions

Is the Livret A really profitable?
The Livret A offers a guaranteed, tax-free return. However, if inflation exceeds the rate, the real return is negative: your savings lose purchasing power.
Can you have both a Livret A and LDDS?
Yes, you can hold both a Livret A AND an LDDS. You can only have one of each. The LDDS adds €12,000 of additional ceiling on top of the Livret A.
How is the Livret A ceiling calculated?
The €22,950 ceiling applies to deposits only. Capitalized interest can push the balance above this ceiling. You cannot make deposits once the ceiling is reached.
Is the LEP open to everyone?
No, the LEP is reserved for taxpayers whose reference income does not exceed a certain threshold (about €22,000 for a single person). Its rate is more advantageous (3.5% in 2025).
